Workers and their networks are better protected in their pursuit of workers’ rights and social change.

Despite its reputation, the Cambodian garment industry is typified by poverty wage, forced labor and discrimination and violence against pregnant women and trade union leaders. Over the past two years, CENTRAL staff have represented more than 3,500 union leaders illegally dismissed from work and more than 100 union leaders criminalized for their union activities. CENTRAL provides holistic legal aid, monitoring and legal advocacy to better protect at risk workers and trade union leaders.

Migrants to gain legal status

Mr Tola, executive director of the Centre for Alliance of Labour and Human Rights, denied the allegation. “I deny what the minister accused me of,” he said. “We work hard with Cambodian workers in Thailand and we want to see all workers abroad return to vote, but we do not order them who to vote for. “They have the right to decide their vote for themselves.”
