Immediately Release: Siti Noor Aishah Atam from Restrictions Under Prevention Of Crime Act 1959 (POCA)
We, the 36 undersigned civil society organisations, trade unions and groups, are appalled to hear about the case of Siti Noor Aishah Atam, 29 year old Malaysian woman, who was arrested for the alleged possession of 12 books, detained, tried and acquitted by court, and thereafter re-arrested and detained under Prevention Of Crime Act 1959 (POCA).
Press Release: Thailand must cease prosecution of human rights defenders
Thailand’s use of criminal defamation laws and the Computer Crimes Act to prosecute human rights defenders violates its international obligations and increases risk for businesses that source goods from Thailand, said a coalition of 110 civil society groups, worker organizations, businesses and members of the European Parliament in an open letter sent to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha today to mark International Human Rights Day, that was commemorated on Dec 10th.
